love the look of this cabinet, have a large room but not ending space

Hi Susan,
Thanks for your email. Unfortunately the Brother Luminaire XP3 is a huge sewing machine and too big for Super Q MK2. Due to the size and weight of this kind of sewing machine we’ve now created a new size of opening called our Super Maxi size which measures a whopping 78cm by 37cm. This new size of opening is accompanied with our new super maxi size electric lifter designed to cope with these larger, heavier sewing machines. If you take a look at our website you’ll be able to see the new 860 Modular cabinet which is the first cabinet that we’ve introduced with this new size opening and lifter with this cabinet we’ve still managed to make it in a relatively compact size so effectively getting the very largest sewing machines into the smaller space possible. Should you have any space left after fitting in the 860 then there are 2 other new pieces that are designed to accompany and match in with the 860 called the Overlocker caddy and a 5 drawer unit. These offer the ability to add more surface area or storage, depending on your needs, to your enhance your sewing area further.
The diagrams for assembly didn’t include the dowel placement and the side panels were either wrongly labelled or the diagram was wrong. Once I sorted that out it went together ok. The last component was a metal bar that strengthend the table. The pilot holes didn’t line up and the screws were not appropriate for the job, I had to substiture them for more suitable ones. Once assemble it looked great, I set up the height for my machine and added the perspex infill which was extra to the cost of the table. Sadly there is vibration whilst sewing at a medium speed which is very dissapointing.
I’ve reached out to Horn for advice, they suggested I buy other units for extra stability. So only one star from me.

Dear Linda,
Thank you for your feedback, we’re obviously sorry to hear of your disappointment and have notified our supplier of the issues that you raise with the instructions. We have assembled these ourselves many times and maybe because of our familiarity with the product haven’t used the instructions in detail so probably have missed the issues raised by you with the diagrams, labelling and doweling however haven’t found that the screws or line up of strengthening bar along the front to be a problem but have still passed your comments on to be checked out.
With regards to the stability of the mechanism. This design of mechnanism is basic in comparison to our air-lifters or electric-lifters but still offers that handy ability to get an accurate line up in the dropped down flatbed position with almost all brands of sewing machine (when the inset is purchased), it is a popular choice of mechanism on many designs of sewing table across our industry due to this ability and other types of entry level tables that try to achieve this using different styles of mechanism generally fall short of getting an accurate flatbed line up in the flatbed position. We haven’t come across vibration being an issue and wonder if it might be that certain machines are more prone to this than others. We do hope that after more use of your table that you come to enjoy its benefits more than the draw backs you feel it has.

My previous Eclipse was purchased in 2009 but my sewing NEW machine needed a NEW cabinet (ha,ha). Gate leg table a bit shorter than my other one but not a problem . I love the inner shelves for your bits and bobs, much more compact than my other one and I so much prefer the drawers ,two actual drawers instead of one deep heavy one. Jeff the delivery guy arrived ,assembled ,gave me a run through, cleaned up and was off. Great person, professional and polite.. The cabinet is very ,very well made and worth the money .Thank you so much Horn.

Jeff delivered this Gemini xl yesterday and I am still getting to know it.. Jeff was brilliant , after assembling he spent time explaining the air lift mechanism and then got me to try it. He gave me some very helpful tips which made using the cabinet so easy. It really is a classy piece of furniture as well as having a practical purpose.
Horn were brilliant, cabinet is very well designed and made. A good delivery time and an excellent price.
I have also ordered a hobby chair to complete my sewing room and looking forward to it’s delivery.

Hi Ann, thank you so much for this lovely review, and we’ll be sure to pass on all compliments to Jeff! We’re really happy that you’re happy with your experience and hope you enjoy your new Gemini XL and Hobby Chair for a long time to come.
I am now the proud owner of the Nova XL in weathered oak. The quality and workmanship of the cabinet is superb! I would highly recommend it, especially if you are an owner of one of the larger machines, as it provides a perfect sewing, seating position. From my initial enquiry through to delivery, Angela was an absolute star. She kept me fully updated at all times and even arranged a quick exchange when the incorrect table was accidentally ordered. Jeff who delivered and installed both tables, to the first floor room, was so polite and respectful of my property. He fully explained how to use the table correctly to avoid damage. Both are a credit to the Horn Furniture company. I also purchased one of the Horn chairs which is excellent. Fully adjustable so supports my back brilliantly. Would also highly recommend them. I love my new table and wish I had bought one before. Five stars isn’t enough. Can’t stop sewing now!
